Packaged with perfect technological utopia, extreme convenience, and sophisticated marketing, this surface world effortlessly paralyzes our reason.

However, if you pull back that dazzling curtain, a massive abyss of the hidden intentions of the system’s architects and cold physical limitations gapes open. If we remain only at the expressed phenomena and cheer, we will forever remain consumable consumers in a game designed by others. The moment you read the underlying ‘Meaning’ flowing beneath all objects and phenomena, and the ‘Timing’ of capital movement, the true trajectory of power finally begins to reveal itself. If you are a rational helmsman seeking to substitute the addition of time with the multiplication of compound interest, you must right now smash the glamorous shell in front of you and directly face the underlying reality of the true world outside the charts.

1. The Hidden Resource Cost of AI: Data Center Power Shortage and Water Crisis

The masses are obsessed with the magical sentences and images generated by large language models (LLMs). They mistake AI for an infinitely flowing spring of digital knowledge. However, this is a thoroughly designed illusion. Behind a single line of conversation outputted on a smartphone screen exists the massive power consumption of colossal data centers and the endless supply of water resources poured in to cool the servers’ heat.

According to research by the University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside), every time an AI model processes 10 to 50 standard prompts, about 500ml of clean water evaporates.

“The intelligence of AI exists in a virtual cloud, but its thirst relentlessly exploits physical resources in reality.”

In this scene of inverted priorities, a bizarre reality unfolds where the domestic water supply for residents near data centers is restricted, while cooling water continuously pours in to cool the brains of AI. Then why can’t governments around the world stop this dangerous and exhaustive race?

It is because competing nations like China act as powerful ‘pacemakers,’ pouring in power and resources to the bitter end solely to seize technological hegemony, unconcerned with universal human values like the environment, human rights, and resource conservation. It is a battlefield of survival where the opponent runs madly with all restrictions lifted. Nobly discussing only human rights and the environment here and voluntarily slowing down means impending technological and geopolitical subordination in the future. Ultimately, in the vortex of this massive national war for hegemony, individual human rights or the resources necessary for survival can never be the top priority. We must accept this chilling truth.

2. The Seismic Shift in Power Dynamics: The Referees and Players of Capitalism Change

If you grasp the meaning held by interest rates and liquidity—the flip side of the macroeconomy—you can pierce through where the massive flow of capital is currently shifting. In the past, those who held and shook interest rates and the power to issue currency were the supreme rulers of the world. However, now that the limits of physical resources have been exposed and technological hegemony has become a weapon for survival, the power landscape of the capitalist playing field has completely inverted.

  • The Referees of the Past (Traditional Financial Capital): Wall Street’s investment banks (IBs) were the conceptual power that evaluated corporate value, determined listing fees, and dominated the rules of the financial market.
  • The Protagonists of the New Era (Mega Tech Companies): Big tech companies, including SpaceX, are the physical power that has practically seized energy, space infrastructure, and exclusive data without relying on Wall Street’s capital.

Now, the initiative has completely shifted. Even when the new protagonists aggressively lower listing fees and play hardball, the Wall Street dinosaurs that once ruled the regulations willingly line up and bow down to secure even a fraction more of their shares. No, they are lining up, bowing down, and applauding the massive energy investments, as if hoping these big tech companies will monopolize even the energy sector. Rather than the conceptual financial capital that manipulated currency and rules, the entities that practically monopolize energy, infrastructure, and resources have ascended as the new supreme rulers dominating the era.

3. The Illusion of Free AI: How Convenience Controls Consumer Data and Behavior

In the past, through a lightweight symbol easily encountered in daily life, I came to realize this massive inversion of roles and the control of the system to my very bones. Once, with a restaurant coupon I accidentally obtained, I exchanged it for high-end food I wouldn’t normally eat and felt deep satisfaction. Furthermore, thanks to the reward stamp coupon at my favorite coffee shop, I enjoyed the neat benefit of drinking free coffee twice a month without fail. At first, intoxicated by the shallow dopamine in my brain, I mistakenly believed I was cleverly utilizing the capitalist system to my gain.

But one day, when I suddenly looked back on the trajectory of my daily life, I felt a chill run down my spine. To drink that free coffee, I was unconsciously passing by other good cafes and directing my steps only to that specific shop. My routes, my tastes, and even the exact timing of when my wallet opened for consumption had all become completely subordinated to that small piece of paper.

Behind that coupon, which seemed like simple goodwill or convenience, hid the sophisticated ‘Meaning’ of the architect attempting to collect individual behavior patterns and thoroughly control the timing of consumption and daily life.

This small everyday trap perfectly mirrors the massive AI and power hegemony race mentioned earlier. The public is thrilled by the free answers and convenience (the free coffee) thrown by AI, but in return, they are entirely surrendering the overwhelming physical value of their data, electricity, and water resources to the architects. If you only look at the surface of the phenomenon, it seems like you are gaining an advantage, but if you fail to see through the underlying reality, you will remain nothing but a pawn forever trapped in the control system designed by the architect.

Conclusion: How to Invest in the AI Era: Secure Energy and Core Infrastructure Stocks

As the era of AI and automation approaches, utopian narratives are running rampant, claiming that the end of labor will be accompanied by Universal Basic Income (UBI). However, a helmsman who has read the hidden side of the capitalist system must not fall for this sweet lie.

In the vortex of hegemonic competition, human rights and physical resources enjoyed by individuals are being pushed to the back burner. The capitalist system never voluntarily shares its fruits with the assetless masses. True wealth and dividends are not concentrated in flashy surface-level apps or software, but exclusively in the ‘shareholder class’ that owns the means of production keeping the system physically running—namely, robots, data centers, and massive energy.

This is not the time to sit in the spectator seats waiting for vague utopian fantasies or state benevolence. You must preemptively secure shares (equity) in energy and core infrastructure companies that supply power and water to this massive AI infrastructure moving the world. If you cannot read the reality beyond the phenomenon and fail to prepare, in the near future, we might be forced to yield even a glass of clear drinking water to cool the heat of AI servers.

Resources are finite, and physical value is plummeting every moment. The true value of the question we throw at AI today is already more expensive than the question we threw yesterday. Since the amount of resources is fixed, it is a natural consequence. Visible price tags simply haven’t been attached above the prompt window yet; perhaps some nameless person who yielded clean water for AI has already paid that price on our behalf

If the bizarre moment of inversion arrives shortly—when the energy demanded by AI surpasses the resources humanity can provide—what choice will humanity make in the face of resource limitations? What choice have the referees who once ruled the regulations made right now? Between the side that controls the system’s energy and the side that surrenders even its remaining resources, where have you decided to stand?
